“Felt sense of belonging”: Rahul Gandhi visits Golden Temple in Punjab with Congress poll candidates

Ahead of the Punjab Assembly election, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited Golden Temple in Amritsar along with the party’s candidates for the upcoming polls.

After paying obeisance at the gurudwara, the leaders partook in a langar (communal meal) at the Golden Temple. In a tweet following his visit, Rahul Gandhi wrote, “As always, it felt good to bow my head at the Darbar Sahib. I felt a sense of belonging.”

In another tweet, he posted a video of Congress candidates partaking in langar at the Golden Temple. He said they prayed for the future of Punjab as they ate the “prasad of langar” together.

In a video posted by ANI news agency, Rahul Gandhi could be seen flanked by Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu during the langar.

Following the visit to the Golden Temple, Rahul Gandhi visited Durgiana Mandir and Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal. Later in the day, he will address a virtual rally — Navi Soch Nava Punjab — in Jalandhar.

Amritsar MP Gurjit Singh Aujla, who is looking after all the arrangements for Rahul Gandhi’s visit, told reporters, “Rahul Gandhi wanted the campaign to start from Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple).
